I would never forgive myself for not including -- at least here in an
appendix  --  a  listing  of some  of  the  more  useful little  LISP
functions I  wrote along  the  way. These  range from  special  smart
printing  functions  (which  let  you be  sloppy  about  quoting  and
spacing),  to stack-searching routines which tell dynamicly if you're
in the middle of a tight loop. They are all  tangential to my thesis,
and yet should not sink into oblivion. Here they are immortalized:
